Mr Shashindran was produced before the court by the police in connection with a habeas corpus petition filed by his wife, alleging that he was missing since April 20 and praying for a direction from the court to the police to produce him.The court orally expressed its displeasure for not producing the detenu before the Magistrate concerned and for not conducting medical tests on him. A division bench, comprising Justices P N Ravindran and P Bhuvanadas, directed the police to produce Mr Shashindran before the Judicial Magistrate in Sultan Bathery tomorrow and release him thereafter. The court also directed the police to conduct medical tests on him. Mr Shashindran, a Congress (S) worker, had joined the Congress.The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) had moved a no-confidence motion against the Gram Panchayat.The vote of Mr Shashindran was crucial as the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) was having 11 members and UDF had 10, before he moved to the Congress. In this backdrop, Mr Shashindran was allegedly abducted.
